Abstract: Objective: Based on retrospective analysis and data mining , this study investigates the medication patterns and characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the treatment of radiation-induced oral mucositis (RIOM). Methods: Relevant literature on TCM treatment of RIOM was retrieved from databases such as the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) since their establishment, after which a prescription database was screened and constructed. Excel2010, SPSS Modeler18.0, and Origin2018 software were used to perform statistical analysis of high-frequency drugs, association rules, systematic clustering. Results: A total of 70 prescriptions involving 154 herbs were selected. There are 16 medicines with a frequency≥12, and the top 10 medicines with a frequency are: Ophiopogonis Radix、Rehmanniae Radix、Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma、Scrophulariae Radix、Lonicerae Japonicae Flos、Glehniae Radix、Forsythiae Fructus、Platycodonis Radix、Pseudostellariae Radix and Poria. The four qi were predominatly cold, while the five flavors were mainly sweet and bitter. The meridians are most concentrated in the lung, stomach, and heart. Association rule analysis identified 10 commonly used drug pairs, systematic clustering yielded 5 novel drug combinations, and complex network analysis results were consistent with systematic clustering. Conclusion: TCM treatment for RIOM mainly focuses on clearing heat and detoxification, replenishing qi and nourishing yin, while also addressing fluid generation, activating blood circulation and resolving stasis, and dispersing pathogenic factors. The new formulas obtained from data mining , such as Ophiopogonis Radix、Glehniae Radix、Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma、Dendrobii Caulis、Asparagi Radix、Lonicerae Japonicae Flos、Forsythiae Fructus and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, can provide good clinical reference.
