Abstract: Objective Based on the idea of protecting stomach qi, this paper discusses the application of this idea in the treatment of nontuberculous mycobacterial lung disease in traditional Chinese medicine from the two aspects of checking stomach qi and taking care of stomach qi. Methods According to Zhang Zhongjings idea of preserving stomach qi, observing stomach qi in order to observe the progression of disease and the reverse syndrome, the treatment of stomach qi by cultivating soil and producing gold and regulating the middle jiao qi, the importance of stomach qi in non-tuberculous mycobacterium lung disease and the key role of stomach qi preservation in syndrome differentiation and treatment were discussed. Through discussion and summary, this paper sums up the thought of Baowei Qi in the diagnosis and treatment of non-tuberculous mycobacterium lung disease, and attached a case to support it. Results The rise and fall of gastric qi is closely related to the strength of righteous qi and the occurrence, development and prognosis of the disease, and also runs through the diagnosis and treatment of nontuberculous mycobacterial lung disease. Through the observation of the fluctuation of gastric qi by the tongue and pulse, and the use of the idea of preserving gastric qi from the aspects of loss prevention and gain, the specific treatment with the main purpose of cultivating the soil and producing gold and mediating the middle focus can achieve better curative effects on the differentiation and treatment of non-tuberculous mycobacterial lung disease. Conclusion The application of the idea of preserving stomach qi can improve the survival status of patients with non-tuberculous mycobacterial lung disease and prevent acute exacerbation of the disease, which is an economical and effective prevention and treatment method, which is worthy of promotion in clinical practice.
