Abstract: Objective: To investigate the laboratory diagnosis and provide some references for clinical treatment of non-lactation mastitis caused by Corynebacterium kroppenstedtii. Methods: Histopathological examination, general bacterial culture of breast aspiration ?uid samples from a patient with non-lactating mastitis caused by Corynebacterium kroppenstedtii admitted to a hospital in Xiamen in July 2023, and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) to identify the isolates. Microdilution broth method was used to test their antimicrobial susceptibility. And literature review. Results: The patient was diagnosed as non-lactation mastitis caused by Corynebacterium kroppenstedtii through histopathological examination of breast aspiration ?uid samples and identification of cultured bacteria by mass spectrometry. According to the results of drug sensitivity test, the tumor was significantly reduced and the inflammation was improved after anti-infection by cefmetazole and anti-inflammatory by hormone treatment, and discharged. Conclusion: The reason for non-lactation mastitis is unclear, Corynebacterium kroppenstedtii, on account of the lipophilic nature and grow slowly, it is easy to escape diagnosis in the laboratory. Therefore, the microscopic examination for smear of Pus specimen staining should be done along with culturing of the bacteria, the culture conditions should be optimized, the culture time should be extended appropriately, and reliable techniques such as MALDI-TOF MS should be used to identify the bacteria. According to the results of drug sensitivity test, appropriate lipophilic antibiotics should be selected for treatment.
