Abstract: Pancreatic cancer is a common malignant tumor in the digestive system, with a high degree of malignancy and a poor prognosis. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment has unique advantages in the comprehensive treatment of pancreatic cancer. Based on years of clinical experience, Professor Shu Qijin treats pancreatic cancer from stagnant toxin due to spleen deficiency. He holds that spleen qi deficiency is the root of pancreatic cancer, while pathogenic toxin stagnation is the branch of the disease such as phlegm-dampness, blood stasis and heat pathogen, among which phlegm-dampness toxin is particularly crucial. He treats with both elimination and reinforcement, while emphasis is placed on protecting spleen-stomach qi, gradually eliminating phlegm-dampness, simultaneously resolving blood stasis, clearing heat and detoxifying. Meanwhile, he takes stock of a situation and dynamically adjusts the treatment according to the course and condition of the patients illness so as to precisely intervene in the treatment of TCM which can achieve good curative effects in reducing the adverse reactions of radiotherapy and chemotherapy and improving the quality of life of patients, thus providing certain ideas for the clinical application of TCM in treating pancreatic cancer.
