Abstract: Objective: To explore the effects of Shengqing Yishui Kaiqiao acupuncture combined with Buyang Huanwu Tang on motor disorders and homocysteine (Hcy) in patients with ischemic stroke (IS). Method: 160 patients with IS who visited the rehabilitation department of our hospital from January 2022 to August 2024 were selected. According to a random number table, 54 patients were enrolled in the acupuncture combined with Buyang Huanwu Tang group (referred to as the combined group), 53 patients in the acupuncture group, and 53 patients in the traditional Chinese medicine group. The treatment outcomes and clinical efficacy of the three groups of patients were evaluated using the Limb Movement Function Assessment (FMA), Activities of Daily Living (MBI), and Manual Muscle Test (MMT). The changes in Hcy and blood lipid levels (TC, TG, LDL-C) before and after treatment were compared among the three groups. Result: After treatment, the FMA, MBI, and MMT scores in the combination group were significantly improved compared to the acupuncture group and the traditional Chinese medicine group, while Hcy, TC, TG, and LDL-C values were significantly decreased. There were significant differences in the comparison of indicators, P<0.05; The total effective rate of the combined group was 92.6% (50/54), which was higher than the 79.2% (42/53) of the acupuncture group and the 69.8% (37/53) of the traditional Chinese medicine group. The difference among the three groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The use of the Shengqing Yishui Kaiqiao acupuncture method combined with Buyang Huanwu Tang in the treatment of IS patients can significantly improve limb motor function, and the combination is superior to single use, while reducing Hcy and blood lipid levels.
