Correlation between Triglyceride Glucose-body Mass Index, Atherogenic Index of Plasma and Gallstone Disease

    Abstract: Objective To investigate the correlation between triglyceride glucose-body mass index (TyG-BMI), atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) and the risk of gallstone disease (GSD). Methods A total of 395 patients diagnosed with gallstone disease by color ultrasound, CT or MRI from January 2023 to December 2023 in the Affiliated Hospital of Jiujiang University were selected as the gallstone group (GSD group), and 384 patients with non-gallstone disease in the same period were randomly selected as the control group (Non-GSD group), and the clinical data were collected, and the TyG-BMI and AIP index were calculated. The differences of the indexes between the two groups were compared, multivariate Logistic regression was used to analyze the correlation between TyG-BMI and AIP index and the risk of GSD, and the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC curve) was used to evaluate the predictive value of TyG-BMI and AIP index on GSD. Results There were statistically significant differences in age, body mass index (BMI), smoking history, alcohol history, fast blood glucose (FBG), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low density lipoprotein (LDL), triglyceride glucose (TyG), TyG-BMI, and AIP between the two groups (P<0.05), while gender difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Univariate Logistic regression analysis showed that age, smoking history, alcohol history, BMI, FBG, TG, LDL, TyG, TyG-BMI and AIP were risk factors for the onset of GSD, TC and HDL were protective factors for the onset of GSD (P<0.05), while gender was not the influencing factor for the incidence of GSD (P>0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that age, FBG, and TyG-BMI were independent risk factors for the onset of GSD (P<0.05). The ROC curves showed that the area under the curve (AUC) of TyG, TyG-BMI and AIP index were 0.687 (95%CI: 0.650~0.724), 0.698 (95%CI: 0.662~0.734) and 0.657 (95%CI: 0.619~0.695), respectively, and the AUC of TyG-BMI combined with AIP was 0.709 (95%CI: 0.673~0.745). Conclusion TyG-BMI and AIP index are correlated with the risk of gallstone disease, TyG-BMI is an independent risk factor for gallstone disease, and TyG-BMI and TyG-BMI combined with AIP index can be used as early predictors of gallstone disease.
