Exploring the ideas of prevention and treatment of senile insomnia based on the theory of ambrosia and phlegm

    Abstract: Geriatric insomnia is a major health problem plaguing the elderly, and the Western medical treatment of this disease is relatively single angle, and the adverse effects of Western drugs are more. This paper is based on the characterization of phlegm as “hidden and latent, hair can be identified with evidence, and phlegm has no opportunity to follow”. From the different parts of phlegm in the five viscera, different treatment principles are proposed to treat phlegm in the kidney, regulate yin and yang, fill in the essence and resolve phlegm; phlegm in the spleen, tonify the deficiency and resolve the depression, and transform the phlegm at the same time; phlegm in the lungs, tonify the qi and nourish yin to get rid of the phlegm; phlegm in the lungs, tonify the qi and nourish the yin, and eliminate phlegm; phlegm in the liver, regulate the qi and remove phlegm, and restore the use of its body; phlegm in the heart, tonify the blood, lower the fire and clear phlegm, providing a new perspective for preventing and treating geriatric insomnia. It provides a new perspective for the prevention and treatment of senile insomnia.
