Abstract: 【】Objective: Preoperative ultrasonography is a crucial tool for assessing the status of cervical lymph nodes in thyroid cancer. The aim of this study was to thoroughly analyze the preoperative ultrasonographic characteristics of cervical lymph nodes to explore their association with lateral cervical lymph node metastasis (LLNM) in thyroid cancer. Methods: We conducted a retrospective study collecting data from thyroid cancer patients treated in our hospital between January 1, 2018, and August 1, 2024. These patients exhibited abnormalities in the lateral cervical lymph nodes on preoperative ultrasound and underwent lateral cervical lymph node dissection. A comprehensive analysis of the preoperative ultrasonographic features of the lymph nodes was performed to determine their correlation with LLNM.Results: The study included 296 thyroid cancer patients, of which 36 (12.2%) had negative pathological results in the lateral cervical lymph nodes, while 160 (87.8%) had positive results. Conclusion: In this study, we
