Research Progress on Drug-induced Liver Injury with Immune Characteristics

  Abstract: Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) refers to acute or chronic liver damage caused by various drugs, natural medicines, traditional Chinese medicinal materials, health products, dietary supplements, and their metabolites, as well as excipients, impurities, and contaminants. One type of DILI is associated with immunologic features, mainly elevated immunoglobulins or positive autoimmune antibodies, similar to autoimmune hepatitis (AIH). The latest international expert consensus refers to this group of patients as drug-induced autoimmune-like hepatitis (DI-ALH) patients. This article will review the epidemiology, pathogenesis, drugs, diagnosis, and differential diagnosis of DI-ALH for clinicians convenience.
