Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the clinical effectiveness of InterTan intramedullary nailing, augmented with postoperative gluteus maximus-focused balance training, in managing elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures of the femur. Methods: Sixty elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures admitted to Jinhua Central Hospital from September 2022 to September 2023 were randomly divided into two groups, with 30 cases in each group. The control group received InterTan intramedullary nail surgery and conventional rehabilitation training, while the observation group received InterTan intramedullary nail surgery, conventional rehabilitation training, and gluteal muscle combined with balance ability training. The hip joint function scores, activities of daily living, and complication rates were compared between the two groups. Results: At each time point after the operation, the Harris score and ADL score of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group, and the incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05).Conclusion: The combination of InterTan intramedullary nailing and postoperative gluteus maximus-focused balance training demonstrates favorable clinical outcomes in the treatment of elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures of the femur.
