Research progress of histone modification and DNA methylation in diabetes nephropathy

    Abstract: DKD is one of the most important microvascular chronic complications in diabetic patients. The main clinical manifestations are microalbuminuria, decreased glomerular filtration rate and progressive renal function impairment, which are increasingly becoming one of the main causes of death in diabetic patients. In recent years, many scholars have found that the progression of DKD is related to epigenetic mechanism, The mechanisms of epigenetics mainly include DNA methylation, histone modification and non-coding RNA. Through promoter methylation, whole genome methylation, histone ubiquitination, acetylation, phosphorylation, methylation and other molecular mechanisms aggravate renal fibrosis, inflammatory response, oxidative stress and so on. In this paper, the research progress of DNA methylation and histone modification in DKD and the treatment direction of DKD are reviewed in detail.
