Abstract: Posterior fossa tumors are the most common type of central nervous system tumors in children, and postoperative hydrocephalus is a major complication that significantly affects the prognosis of these patients. Research indicates that the risk factors for postoperative hydrocephalus primarily include tumor type and size, the relationship between the tumor and the anatomy of cerebrospinal fluid flow, surgical approach, intraoperative complications, patient age, and the severity of preoperative hydrocephalus. Despite numerous studies investigating these factors, there remains controversy regarding the mechanisms of action among different factors. Therefore, this review aims to summarize the relevant risk factors for postoperative hydrocephalus in pediatric posterior fossa tumors, providing insights for improving postoperative management and developing individualized prevention strategies.
