Progress of research on the treatment of tobacco dependence by external therapeutic methods of traditional Chinese medicine

  Abstract: Tobacco dependence has become an important problem in the field of global public health, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has a long history of smoking cessation with remarkable efficacy and unique advantages. Appropriate techniques used in TCM, such as acupuncture, auricular acupoint therapy, acupoint patch, and acupoint acupuncture, are non-pharmacological external therapies with distinctive features, and each has its own advantages in treating tobacco dependence, which fully demonstrates the charm of external therapies in TCM. The combined use of these therapies can further enhance the effect of smoking cessation and improve the success rate of smoking cessation, which is worth promoting.
