Abstract: The purpose is to explore the influence of medical security on the floating populations residence intention, and to further test the intermediary effect of medical service utilization and health level, so as to provide data and path support for the improvement mechanism of the floating populations residence intention. Methods Based on 53,921 samples of China Floating Population Dynamic Survey (CMDS) in 2018, SPSS 21.0 was used to test the residence intention of floating population. AMOS 24.0 included four latent variables of medical security, medical service utilization, health level and floating population residence intention and test the result age, educational background and ethnic group can affect the residence intention of floating population. Medical security can directly predict the residence intention of the floating population(β=0.37,P<0.001). Medical service utilization and health level can play a separate intermediary role between medical security and residence intention(β1=0.549,β2=0.171,P<0.001), and chain mediation effect (β=0.024,P<0.001); in the conclusion that medical security not only plays a direct prediction role on the residence intention of the floating population, but also has an indirect prediction effect through the chain mediation of medical service utilization and health level.
