Abstract: Objective: To summarize the basic features, main dimensions and core elements, and to analyze the developmental characteristics and implications of domestic and global conceptual framework of integrated health care system. Methods: Systematic review method was used to retrieve and screen the literatures, thematic synthesis method was adopted to extract, integrate and analyze the literatures’ information based on the 6 dimensions consisting of system integration, organizational integration, professional integration, care integration, core functional integration, value and normative integration proposed in our previous research. Results: Among the 66 conceptual frameworks included in the analysis, 12 focused on a single dimension, 45 involved 2-5 dimensions, and 9 covered all 6 dimensions. The dimension of system integration, organizational integration, professional integration, care integration, core functional integration, value and normative integration respectively consisted of 7, 6, 5, 7, 4 and 2 core elements. Discussions and conclusions: The developmental trend of the conceptual frameworks is characterized by the increasing emphasis on the concept of people-centered, the gradual diversification of dimensions and comprehensiveness of coverage levels, the transformation of the connotation of care to comprehensive health care, and the transformation of the understanding of health care system to dynamic and adaptive. We should make full use of current research results and findings to construct and perfect the conceptual framework of integrated health care system in accordance with national conditions and development stages in China.
